Well, no Easter egg for me today (I clearly don’t deserve one!) but we did finally taste the plain flour that came in the Gluten Free Trial pack from Freebake.
You may remember that we have previously tested their pizza base mix, the bread mix and the cake mix, with mostly positive results.
We put the plain flour to use in the Simnel cake we made for today – and it worked a treat. Completely indistinguishable from normal flour, with no gritty texture or aftertaste, I would have to say this was a resounding success.
Our Recommendation: try this
I’ve written a book summarising what we’ve learnt over 20 years of dealing with the gluten free diet, and it might be just what you’re looking for. It packs the lessons we’ve learned into what I hope is a helpful and straightforward guidebook. It’s available on Amazon, as a paperback or for your Kindle… |

Gemma, thanks for answering John’s question (I’ve been offline for a fortnight).
John, I believe Gemma is right: Freebake has disappeared. There are quite a few people who are sad about this, but I suppose if the company can’t make it pay, then it just isn’t viable as a business product. It’s always a shame when we lose a gluten free food supplier.
