So perhaps this isn’t one you’d be giving to your gluten free child – but nevertheless …
The adults in this house tested this one – Green’s Pioneer, which is a lager. Green’s also do Endeavour (a double dark beer), Pilgrim (cherry beer, available for Christmas) Discovery (a classic-style beer), Explorer (stout), Trailblazer (low carb lager) and Herald (a traditional ale). These beers are suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets as well as being wheat free and gluten free. According to their site:
Green’s beers do not contain any of the following allergens or products thereof:
gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soya beans, milk, lactose, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphur dioxide and sulphites.
We thought the Pioneer was very drinkable, and would be very happy to drink it again – unlike the old versions of low-alcohol lagers that used to be available! We bought ours from Sainsbury’s, but they can be bought from various supermarkets across the country and by the case from the Greens website.
I could find only one reference to the Explorer stout on the Greens website, and it doesn’t seem to be available to buy from the site, but the label on the Pioneer we drank tonight mentions it, so perhaps it is a new one.
Our recommendation: drink this.
I’ve written a book summarising what we’ve learnt over 20 years of dealing with the gluten free diet, and it might be just what you’re looking for. It packs the lessons we’ve learned into what I hope is a helpful and straightforward guidebook. It’s available on Amazon, as a paperback or for your Kindle… |
